"El Velador"

The award-winning film director Nataila Almada, demonstrates "El Velador" or The Night Watchman by focusing on the lives of the people who are caught in the crossfire that Mexico's drug lords have established throughout Mexico. Martin is a guard of the mausoleums of some of Mexico's most notorious drug lords that along with "El Velador" clean up the mess left behind by these rebellions against former President Felipe Calderon's government. This video demonstrates how hard working Mexicans and most of Latin American's are even with these problems that has practically invaded their country.Hopefully with the new elected president Enrique Peña Nieto he can change this war Mexico has been fighting with drug lords. Something that caught my attention was the fact how a widow of the man come back everyday to clean the burial site of her beloved husbands, while their children played obliviously around the cemetery on top of the burial of many deceased.Through the film the radio and the TV were constantly on to hear about the deaths of people amidst this war with the drug lords. During Hispanic Heritage Month everyone should realize how beautiful the Hispanic heritage is and how with its flaws has managed to survive many fatal battles. What really makes me happy is that a midst so much violence these families can still manage to continue on with their lives although they know that everything around them won't change until the government makes a formal stand to stop these drug lords.
